Tour Description
The tour will begin at the Franciscan Shrine in Arezzo, a place of great devotion dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi, who lived and preached here in the 13th century. The church, of understated elegance, is a landmark for Franciscan spirituality and houses numerous frescoes inside that recount the saint's life and miracles. In particular, the pictorial cycle by Piero della Francesca in the main chapel is extraordinarily beautiful. The experienced guide will reveal the spiritual significance of these works and lead you in a moment of reflection and prayer.
You will continue your visit to the Cathedral of Arezzo, a masterpiece of Gothic art that stands majestically in the heart of the city. The cathedral is famous for its frescoes and stunning stained glass windows that tell the life of Christ, but what makes this place even more fascinating is its spiritual solemnity. Inside, special attention will be paid to the high altar and works by local artists, including Giorgio Vasari's "Deposition from the Cross". The Catholic guide who will accompany you, thanks to his deep knowledge of Church history, will help you understand the theological significance of each architectural and artistic element.
Finally, after visiting the places of worship, we will embark on a fascinating tour of the center the city of Arezzo, where you will have the opportunity to admire the masterpieces of Piero della Francesca. The artist, one of the greatest masters of the Renaissance, left an indelible mark on the city with his works. You will visit the famous "Legend of the True Cross" in the former church of San Francesco, a cycle of frescoes that represents one of the highest moments of Renaissance painting. Along the way, your guide will also tell you about the history of Arezzo, its monuments and religious traditions, giving you a comprehensive view of this corner of Italy that has been a cradle of faith, art and culture.
