Tour Description
Our adventure begins with a visit to the Basilica of St. John and Paul, one of the most important places of worship in Venice, also known as the Venetian "Pantheon" for being the burial place of many doges. Here, you can admire the imposing Gothic facade and the splendid interior enriched with works of art by masters such as Tintoretto and Veronese. Be sure to visit the adjacent cloister, a place of meditation and tranquility that will reveal the thousand-year history of this basilica. Our knowledgeable Catholic guide will share with you fascinating anecdotes related to the saints and doges buried here, making this visit an unforgettable experience.
Continuing our itinerary, we will head to the Basilica of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, a Gothic masterpiece famous for its impressive works of art, including Titian's famous "Assumption". Here, you will have the opportunity to contemplate the sacredness of art and devotion as we tell you the story of this extraordinary place of worship. Next, we will make a stop at the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Salute, a symbol of hope for Venetians, built to thank the Virgin for the deliverance from the plague. We will visit the interior of the building, with its wonderful chapels and altars, and have a moment of prayer in this consecrated place.
We will end our tour by visiting the Church of San Giacometto di Rialto which is one of the oldest churches in the city, located in the heart of the Rialto district, near the famous bridge and its foundation dates back to the 9th century. The church is dedicated to St. James the Greater, one of the central figures of medieval Christianity. The interior of the church is simple but striking, with architecture that mixes Gothic and Renaissance influences. The walls are decorated with frescoes and artwork telling biblical and saintly stories. Among the most significant works is the beautiful Baroque-style altar , which houses an altarpiece depicting the titular saint. This small but charming place represents a quiet corner in an otherwise crowded and touristy area.
The itinerary can be customized according to the needs of the group or individual participant.
