Tour Description

Welcome to Assisi, the spiritual heart of Umbria, which for centuries has inspired believers and pilgrims from all over the world. Our tour, available with convenient transfers from Rome or Florence, begins at the marvellous Basilica of St Francis, one of the world's most sacred pilgrimage sites. Here we will have the opportunity to contemplate the splendid works of art, including Giotto's frescoes, which tell the life of St Francis with unique spiritual power. In the crypt, we will visit the tomb of the saint, a moment of silence, ideal for prayer and to hear the profound Franciscan message of love for Creation.

From the Basilica of St Francis we move on to the Basilica of St Clare, whose simple beauty reflects the saint's dedication to poverty and humility. Here rests the disciple of Francis and founder of the Order of the Poor Clares, an order dedicated to prayer and contemplation. We can admire the Crucifix of San Damiano, the sacred symbol that, according to tradition, spoke to Francis and entrusted him with the mission of 'repairing his Church'. It is an ideal place to renew one's faith and be inspired by the spiritual strength of these extraordinary figures.

The tour ends at the Sanctuary of San Damiano, located just outside the centre of Assisi, where Francis had his enlightenment and where Clare spent most of her life. This place is surrounded by the peace of the Umbrian countryside and offers pilgrims an ideal atmosphere for recollection. Here you can participate in moments of reflection and prayer, immersed in the same landscape that inspired St Francis in his Canticle of the Creatures. At the end of the tour, your private driver will take you comfortably back to Rome or Florence. It is also possible to add a typical Umbrian lunch and an overnight stay in Asissi to the tour.
